Camino de Santiago

If you’ve ever thought that one day you’d like to perhaps walk the Camino de Santiago, but you’re not too sure about what might be involved, then please join this monthly supportive planning/training group.
Programme

Various Camino routes, maps, books, and online forums. What’s your goal/dream?
Kit: rucksack, water, footwear, clothing, and other basics.
Accommodation and the Pilgrim Passport.
Travel arrangements to the start and end points, and also during your Camino.
Food, drink and useful Spanish phrases. (Guest Spanish speaker)
Camino fitness and general safety concerns. First Aid Kits.
Bed bugs, blisters and other nasties.
Planning your trip.
History Culture and Geography.

The aim is for participating members to learn about: the different Camino routes, the all important kit, how to train for a long walk, practical tips and advice on accommodation, travel arrangements, footwear, and keeping safe. Here is an opportunity to gain insight from someone who walked the Camino in 2016 for 6 weeks carrying all their gear, lived to tell the tale and is planning to return in 2022 (that’s me by the way!).

Members may be planning to walk the Camino themselves someday, or might have already done so, or would simply enjoy learning about what’s involved in preparing for a very long walk. A few paeticipants may have already walked parts of the Camino and plan to go back or are simply happy to share their experiences.

There will be opportunities for practise walks during the year for a few participants; including 2 and 3 day walks involving early starts and carrying a full kit. The way this will work is that we will meet up early each day to walk locally and you will return home each night and promise yourself to only use the kit that you are able to carry.
